Learn from an award-winning online teacher how to successfully integrate online elements into your traditional classroom in order to increase student engagement and motivation. Specific examples of blended-learning assignments will be shared in addition to a course tour of a successful online classroom.

Uses and implications of technological resources and project-based learning will be shown by a hands-on experience. Participants will also be introduced to a variety of literacy strategies designed to help students understand scientific content through technology.

The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) classroom requires hands-on inquiry-based activities that engage the learner in the four content areas. With continued financial tightening in the K-12 environment, teachers are finding it increasingly difficult to provide exciting activities that are within the budget. During this workshop we will explore a number of inexpensive activities that you can build into STEM units.

Can Twitter improve student reading and writing? In this session, I will talk about my students use of Twitter for independent learning. In an ongoing project in my classroom I am having students create a learning network around a subject they are interested in order to inspire writing on Twitter and a website or blog to contribute their writing to relevent and real world issues in a subject they're passionate about. Show your students how to use social media to learn, write and publish.
