Equip • Engage • Empower
Every day, learning is taking place across barriers once thought to be insurmountable. For the 15th anniversary of OETC, join more than 6,000 attendees to explore the endless possibilities that distance learning and alternative learning models provide. Attendees will come together to teach and learn about new ways to equip, engage, and empower learners and educators across the state and beyond!
After 4 years of study, we casually launched our BYO initiative in the 2011-2012 school year, moving to a complete expectation in our High School in 2012-2013. While we are still in the infancy of this change, we have learned so much and would not turn back. Come learn about our journey as we share what we have learned along this road, how our thinking changed, and what the benefits we have seen.
The goal of this BYOT workshop is to expose educators to the MIT App Inventor software platform. App Inventor uses a simple block style language that makes it easy for non-programmers to quickly learn how to build apps. Yet App Inventor is also powerful enough to teach the newly proposed AP Computer Science Principles course. No prior programming experience is required. You will create several small apps on your computer and do not need an Android device in order to use App Inventor.
