Every day, learning is taking place across barriers once thought to be insurmountable. For the 15th anniversary of OETC, join more than 6,000 attendees to explore the endless possibilities that distance learning and alternative learning models provide. Attendees will come together to teach and learn about new ways to equip, engage, and empower learners and educators across the state and beyond!

Creating and Maintaining the Accessible Classroom

This session focuses on the design and implementation of accessible classrooms. Best practices and recent research will be presented describing the modern accessible environment including products like the TAP•it®, iPads and tablets, IWBs, AAC devices, and web-based softwares. The current classroom model of learning taking place only within four walls is not functional for any students. The design must include access to curricular materials and activities during the individual's entire day.

Dr. Heipp is a 20+ year veteran of the classroom and administration. He began working with Special Education students in the late 1970s. Later, he developed and implemented special needs programs for schools with whom he worked.
