Every day, learning is taking place across barriers once thought to be insurmountable. For the 15th anniversary of OETC, join more than 6,000 attendees to explore the endless possibilities that distance learning and alternative learning models provide. Attendees will come together to teach and learn about new ways to equip, engage, and empower learners and educators across the state and beyond!

Flocabulary: Hip-Hop in the Classroom

This interactive session explores the idea of using hip-hop as a learning tool, with a particular focus on student engagement, vocabulary and reading and writing across the curriculum. After a discussion of key concepts and research, participants will see a demonstration of Flocabulary’s instructional strategy and then have an opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in a fun writing and performance activity.

Vlad Gutkovich

K-12 Partnerships, Flocabulary, LLC
Vlad Gutkovich joined Flocabulary in 2008, bringing with him a wide range of experience in teaching, music and business. After graduating from Wesleyan University with High Honors, Vlad freelanced as a music specialist and curriculum designer for organizations throughout New York City. He now crisscrosses the country, spreading the word about Flocabulary wherever he goes.
